Join us for a guided hike at Yakona Nature Preserve.
What you need to know:
Hike Difficulty: Moderate
This three-mile hike traverses mostly hilly terrain: those with mobility challenges, breathing difficulties, and balance problems will find this a difficult hike.
We will experience elevation loss/gain of 250-300 feet multiple times. Many long grades are 12%, and two short ones are nearly 20%. We will traverse one steep stone stairway that does not have a handrail. Due to the approximately three miles of hilly terrain, this should be considered a Moderate level hike.
We can expect to be on the trails for about 3 hours. Sturdy sneakers or light hiking boots are appropriate. Please bring drinking water for yourself. You are welcome to bring snacks, but be prepared to leave no trace. Please pack out what you pack in. You may want to bring bug spray and/or sunscreen.
For the peace and protection of wildlife, please leave your pets at home.
RSVP’s are required. Please include your full name(s), number in party, and mobile phone number in order to receive text updates in case we need to cancel or reschedule due to weather. We leave the locked gate promptly at 10 a.m., so please plan on arriving 15 minutes early.
